How to Hang a Hammock

Hang your hammock correctly, depending on the type of hammock:
Pull the chains taut until the hammock is parallel to the ground, two people required.
The hammock should not have a sway, pull the hammock tighter.
How to Choose a Hammock Location
Hammock locations:
Anywhere suitable between two trees.
Use a hammock stand, or create - build your own.
Buy proper quality weight bearing hooks at the hardware store:
Hang from the ceiling, from the wall, or on a porch, virtually anywhere.
Hang the hammock where the hammock will be supported with the weight capacity of the hammock.
Hang on hardwood trees; 12 plus inches in diameter.
Hang on new treated rot-resistant posts; 4X4 inches plus.
Plant posts two feet plus deep, cement in, and let dry.
Hammock Distance:
Hammocks with spreader bars, equal to the overall length of the hammock; can add distance if needed:
Use a sturdy rope or chain to extend your hammock hanging points.
Extend the hanging points in equal lengths on both ends of the hammock.
Extend the hanging points no farther than 18 inches on each end.
Beyond a total of 3 feet, your hammock has an increased tipping factor.
Hammocks without spreader bars.
Hammocks hanging length will be less than the overall length of the hammock.
Hammocks without spreader bars hang with a dip, with or without being occupied.
The hammocks hanging length should be around two thirds of the overall length, give or take.
The closer together the hanging points, the higher the hammock will have to be hung to not drag.
Hammock Height:
Hammocks with spreader bars, 4.5 feet off the ground is the average.
Hammocks without spreader bars, 7 feet off of the ground is the average.
